The middle managers as leverage? (Online)
Middle managers are the heroes in the middle, but they live with cross pressures and dilemmas
Middle managers are indispensable, but often underestimated or even shamed. The image of middle managers as an endangered species is misleading. Middle managers, on the contrary, are at the center, they are important ambassadors for the company's vision, values, ethics and strategies, and they have an important personnel responsibility. They tie the organization together and ensure that direction and meaning are created. The big challenge, however, is that the role is complex and full of dilemmas.

A crisp book 'Handbook for middle managers' maps the current and future role of the middle manager: to exercise strong personal leadership, lead downwards, upwards and outwards, connect the company crosswise, unite professional management and personnel management and strengthen sustainable management in a global economy. Each of the 22 chapters focuses on a current management theme, provides insight into research and dilemmas, presents a vivid personal case and provides tools for use by managers.
