MOOCs vs. face to face learning

– perspectives for (further) education

May 20th we will meet at CBS for a day of knowledge sharing and exchange of experience on how we can best design learning processes in our organizations with the tools available today. When does it make sense to use MOOCs and when does it make sense to use face to face learning …… and is it an either/or or a both/and?

Increasingly, the world's leading universities offer MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses), which are free (or almost free) online courses. As the number of universities creating MOOCs and available courses increases, and as the MOOC platforms approach a sustainable business model, the value and perspectives of the MOOC phenomenon are being discussed increasingly intensively.
Is it an effective form of learning? What perspectives do MOOCs have for continuing education? These are some of the central questions that need to be addressed, and which we will present and discuss at the meeting.

MOOCs:
V. Thomas Rousing, CBS
• What is a MOOC and what does it look like?
• Background and the field's central players
• Strengths and weaknesses of MOOCs
• The development of the business model
• MOOCs in relation to employers and continuing education

Face to face learning processes:
V. Max Møller, Workz
• Strengths and weaknesses of face to face learning
• What is it in particular that we must use each other for when we are face to face?
• Can face to face learning create deeper learning than other forms of learning?
• Do we just stick to face to face because this is where we are the most experienced and have the most experience OR are there actually significant learning benefits?
