Remote management – efficiency despite distance

This is how you make distances shorter and ensure efficiency across workplaces

There are decisive differences between working in the same physical workplace or virtually, where colleagues are spread over several workplaces. This applies regardless of whether the collaboration takes place between locations at home or abroad, in private companies or public organisations. Distances can create several forms of psychological distance, and as a manager or project manager you must actively work to build trusting relationships between you and your employees and colleagues.

Distance management - NOCA

Take part in this network meeting and get new inspiration for how you can crack the code for remote management - you will get, among other things, answer these questions:

  • How do I create value in the balance between presence and availability?
  • How do I create close, trusting relationships despite physical distances?
  • How can we build transversal communities, where virtual behavior as a shared responsibility creates new work cultures?

Speakers:

Lars Pedersen, author of the book "Is there a manager present?", gives concrete examples of how in practice you can deal with the challenges that the distributed form of organization presents. You will also be introduced to a few concrete tools that you can use in your organisation.

Rikke Kristine Nielsen, Associate Professor at Aalborg University, will talk about the latest trends in the field and share his experiences with virtual meetings and the so-called "digital natives", who are not necessarily pre-programmed to use virtual meeting technologies. On the other hand, she wants to demonstrate which competencies this new digital generation can contribute.

Maria Kofod, Deputy Group Director for Organization & Strategy at DLG, will give a practical look at how to establish good remote management when there is a need for collaboration both locally, nationally and globally. DLG has a focus on remote management, as they are a large international group which is owned by Danish farmers and is therefore spread across the country and in Europe.

At this meeting you will have the opportunity to hear more about the book: "Is there a manager present?"
"Is there a manager present?" provides inspiration from theory and research as well as experience from practice. Each chapter contains inspiration for action – the process that you can apply in practice to strengthen competencies in distance management and virtual collaboration. In addition, throughout the book there are a number of reflection questions that can build a bridge between the challenges in your everyday life and the book's themes. With the book, you will be equipped to take new initiatives and create new behavior in the virtual organization with a view to strengthening presence, togetherness and efficiency.
