CLOSED for registration: Facilitation – a meta-competence for the future leader (Physical)
Join this workshop and combine authority and involvement – and create results together.
Most modern leaders try to facilitate their people, but may not have the language and tools to do so. Many leaders want to move away from the authoritarian “I call the shots!” style while avoiding the opposite trench – the fumbling “What do you think?” style when it comes to meeting management and decision-making. But how can you facilitate meetings and conversations that create clear direction while also keeping meeting participants involved and feeling a sense of ownership? How do you break with old meeting management norms and create a facilitative leadership style that promotes collaboration and concrete results?
In this workshop, led by Ib Ravn, we will take as our starting point the book “The Facilitating Leader – Paths to Productivity and an Engaging Work Community”. Here, Ib Ravn and his co-authors formulate a third way: Facilitative leadership. This leadership style combines the leader's responsibility for direction and decision-making with the active involvement of employees through facilitated processes. This not only creates co-ownership, but also employee autonomy, which indirectly promotes desired behavior, motivation and commitment.
Join this inspiring workshop on facilitation, where we will:
- Explore the art of facilitation, i.e. guiding a conversation between a gathered group of people so that results are created and everyone experiences involvement.
- Try out some practical techniques for focusing stray meeting discussions and engagement.
- Engage in productive discussions about the manager's role and responsibility in supporting employee psychological safety through cohesion, autonomy, and competencies.
Why spend these two days together?
At this event you will gain insight into facilitative leadership, which combines authority and involvement, and learn how to strengthen employees' psychological security and co-ownership. Join us this morning and meet Ib Ravn, who for 20 years and eight books has helped put facilitation on the map in Denmark – now also within management.
