Is there a manager present? – Online meeting
Remote management – Is there a manager present?
Today's leaders are expected to be present and close to their employees. Not only to lead the task solution, but to develop and motivate its people, as well as ensure common direction and alignment. It has only become important in recent years, when an increasing number of managers have at the same time been given responsibility for employees or entire teams who are not in the same location! This makes the task challenging to say the least!
Being a present and committed leader for your organization at a distance requires both special digital and social skills. In these days of distributed management, it is simultaneously an art for both managers and employees.
At this meeting, we put special focus on distance management with the following three questions:
- How do you create close relationships over distance?
- How can you create communities/common team culture between different locations?
- How can you design the virtual communication (media mix) so that you create effective virtual meetings?
Join us online on March 21, when we meet Lars Pedersen for a conversation about distance management. Lars is head of Pitstop Management and author of the acclaimed book Is there a manager present?, which delves into the challenges and opportunities of distance management. Lars will share his experiences with us during the meeting and give good advice, tips and feedback. You will have the opportunity to ask him questions in both the plenary and smaller breakout rooms along the way.
You can expect to find knowledge and inspiration to equip your colleagues as distance managers and remote workers, as well as an increased understanding of the barriers you easily encounter in that context.
The meeting will be highly interactive and not a classic webinar. Participants are expected to show up with an open mind and contribute actively to the knowledge sharing and exercises with their own experiences and challenges. We mix small presentations, exercises, discussion and co-creation with networking so that you get the greatest possible benefit.
If you have not participated in NOCA's facilitated online meetings before, we also expect you to watch a 10-minute video that prepares you to participate fully in the meeting. Headset, broadband and individual webcam are required.
